Murphy’s Mini Maintenance Pellet

$14.80$118.80 (inc GST)

Murphy’s pellets are a high quality, fresh smelling pellet that has become a favourite for many Parrots.

They have been manufactured in Australia, by a locally owned family business (not imported) and are the perfect replacement for Roudybush pellets as they are made with similar ingredients and pellet sizes.

Murphy’s pellets are available in Crumbles, Mini and Small sizes. While this ‘mini’ size is the smallest cylindrical pellet in the range, crumbles is smaller again without the uniform shape.

Access to fresh water should always be allowed and a diet of fresh vegetables and some fruit should also be provided to your bird. When changing your bird from either seed or a different pellet onto Murphy’s, it is recommended to convert them using a method approved by an avian vet.

Description

“Murphy’s Avian Maintenance Diet is a complete balanced diet for birds all year round. Pellets are a balanced diet which can represent up to 80% of a birds total diet, so do not provide additional Vitamin or Minerals. Ensure pellets are available as the primary source of food. Feeding fresh fruit and vegetables is also recommended.
Always monitor your birds weight & health condition, especially when transitioning to pellet foods.” – From the Murphy’s label.

Roudybush pellets are no longer available in Australia. Murphy’s pellets are made with similar ingredients and pellet size, so they will look, smell and taste very similar. Some images show the previous Roudybush pellet, for comparison reasons. These are labelled accordingly.

Though not stated on the packet, I have had confirmation that the salt content of this diet is a low 0.33% (compared to 0.5% for Vetafarm Nutriblend). Other nutritional information is provided in the photos.

Murphy’s pellets are made in Crumbles, Mini and Small sizes. A medium size pellet may be made in the future.

Crumbles is the smallest size pellet available in the maintenance diet range and is recommended for nearly all pet parrots. Using a smaller pellet, you will find there is less wastage (than larger pellets) and when used in a foraging scenario, it takes the bird longer to retrieve their meal. I feed both crumbles and mini to my own birds (Conures, Quakers, a Galah and Corella), with occasional use of the ‘small’ as a handfed treat. The ‘small’ is the largest size pellet in the range currently.

While introducing a new pellet, closely monitor your birds’ weight and their droppings and chat to your avian vet if you’re concerned. This conversion method, recommended by Brisbane Bird Vet, has been successful for many birds.

I bought some of the mini pellets for my fussy cockatiel who had been eating Roudybush but would not eat other brands. I am happy to say she ate these straight away with gusto. No more worrying trying to find a replacement for the no longer manufactured Roudybush. So happy

I offer my Quaker girl a selection of Harrison’s, Tropican, and previously Roudybush. I’m thrilled to say Cera LOVES the Murphy’s and searches it out above the other pellets. Cera and I thank you for offering this new pellet. 😍😍😍

Absolute life saver. My 6 and 7 year old Quakers have been on roudybush their whole life. Since it stopped being manufactured I tried TOPS with no success at all, vetafarm daily maintenance was a fail for one while the other picked at it. I was so happy when I received my first bag of mini Murphys pellet, it looked very similar to roudybush and both birds took to it immediately gobbling up every little bit. 2 very happy Quakers and 1 very happy Quaker mum 😁

The Murphy’s Mini Pellets were pretty much an instant hit with my two Lovebirds, and my Slaty Headed Parakeet has transitioned over just fine also from the Roudybush. I had tried another brand in the meantime and it wasn’t really taken to the lovebirds just chucked a bunch into their water dish.

My budgie loves these pellets. He was on vetafarm crumbles – and I was expecting a transition period to Murphys – but he just took to these instantly. The ‘mini’ size is bigger than the vetafarm crumbles he was used to, but he had no trouble breaking apart the Murphys pellets and its clear he prefers the taste of the Murphys. I crushed a couple for him to get him started – they crumble up really easily for little beaks. Really happy with them – very little waste as all the crumbs gets gobbled up too! The cockatiels also like them – no problem breaking them apart or holding in their feet to eat.

Whilst my birds have loved Tops pellets, there is so much waste and I can’t stand throwing away money! I prefer to buy Australian Made, so decided to give Murphy’s a go. I began with offering them in the same dish as the Tops pellets, and to my surprise all 5 of my weiros happily chomped down the Murphey’s in preference to Tops! It’s a winner for us!

My cockatiel can be a fussy eater, and I was a bit worried when Roudybush was discontinued. I had tried other pellets to no avail and was getting more concerned as he ate his way through my last bag. Glad to say he has adapted well to these pellets, although I am going to order some of the crumbles that just came in as he always preferred that type of pellet. Thanks for supplying these, a happy bird and owner. Great toys too.

My girls used to have Roudybush mixed with their Zupreem pellets so these seemed like a great transition for them. My girls really like them, but being cockatiels they prefer the crumble size when i can get my hands on them! A little less mess with the crumbles!
However these are definitely a win for us!

My cockatiels transitioned to this pellet so easily! They used to be on Roudybush and took to these straight away and seem to really enjoy them.

No hunger strikes or drama like when I tried to use a vetafarm pellet in the interim before getting these pellets haha. Would definitely recommend Murphy’s!

I have a super picky Indian Ringneck and I am pleased as punch to say that she transitioned over to the pellets so well!! They’re amazing, they’re so much better for her, the mess is far easier to clean up as well. I really appreciate the helpful notes and nutritional info on the back.

Murphys pellets are great, I love that they’re australian made and it’s been very easy to transition our birds over to them. I love that they come in such large sizes as well, it’s very handy for us here at our parrot sanctuary. And they are so much more affordable than other high quality pellets.

My girl (female eclectus) devoured her pellets on the first night, so thankful I’ve found another healthy substitute to TOPs as supply is so unreliable with them. And a huge thanks for her little foot toy that got destroyed too. One lucky bird tonight.
